FAQ

International Data Coverage

Do you cover data outside the U.S.?

Versium LifeData® covers consumers and businesses worldwide; however, we must comply with the legal limitations for each country to offer this data commercially. We unlock country data as we ensure we comply with the legal limitations for each country.

To search covered countries, see Global Coverage.

To learn more about the European Union restrictions on personal information through the GDPR, see What is GDPR?.

Why are my insights and other data in English?

Because insights and other data are delivered in the language where the data was sourced, all insights and other data sourced from English-speaking countries will be in English. This is true for data sourced in other countries as well, so the language your data appears in will vary based on the source.

Why are some EU countries not available?

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) regulation is a measure adopted by the European Parliament which provides personal data protection for all individuals in the European Union (EU), and restricts the export and use of personal data outside of the EU. Because of this regulation, Predict cannot provide or use any personal data for EU residents. This affects all consumer and business person information. Business information is available for the EU.

Emails

Why are my emails bouncing?

Versium works hard to make sure the email addresses you get are clean and deliverable, but that’s just the first essential step to reaching people’s inboxes. If you’re not seeing the response you’d like from your email campaigns, check the best practices and resources in How do I make sure my emails reach the inbox? to improve the odds that your emails actually reach your targets’ inboxes.

Get Data Insights

What are data insights?

Data insights give you a richer view on your current marketing lists with enhanced data from the Versium LifeData® data warehouse. You provide a marketing list from the CRM, and Versium Predict adds all of the information it has for the leads on your list.

For more information on how to get data insights, see Add Predict Insights.

Why does Predict find a match in one feature and not in another?

The different features in Predict use the matching approach and data sources that make the most sense for what you’re trying to accomplish. This difference does mean you may see a difference in how many matches are found, and this is exactly what you want.  For more information, see How Matching Approach and Data Sources Affect Your Results

Build Predictive Models

How do I check the status of my predictive model?

  1. In Versium Predict, click Dashboard, and then, in the bottom left, under Results, click Predictive Models.
  2. Find the line for the model you’re building.
  3. In the Model Performance column, it will show the percent complete while your model is building.

When your model is done, the column shows the predicted model performance.

How do I build an effective model?

The most effective model is built using the right marketing lists. See Prepare Training Data for the Best Predictive Model.

How long does model building take?

It takes Versium Predict up to 3 hrs to generate a predictive model. If you have a model that’s taking significantly longer than that, please contact customer support.

How do I check if my predictive model is good?

There are a couple of things you can check to make sure your predictive model has built correctly. Check:

  • The ROC curve is somewhere between 55 and 89%.
  • Lists scored with the model have a range of scores (not all the same)

If it looks like your model may not have built correctly, please contact customer support.

What is predictive modeling? How does Versium build a predictive model?

Predictive modeling analyzes the characteristics of business or consumer leads to find what characteristics (or signals) correlate with desired behaviors (such as purchasing your product), and then creates and tests a statistical model to assess the probability of future behaviors and outcomes.

Versium Predict builds predictive models using machine learning algorithms, trained with data from your CRM combined with business and consumer attributes from Versium’s LifeData® warehouse.

How do I build a predictive model?

You build a predictive model using lists or records in the CRM. You choose either business or consumer lists to build B2B or B2C predictive models.

  1. To prepare, you need to have or create two marketing lists: a success and a non-success list.
  2. You can then build a predictive model using the Model Builder.

For more information on these steps, see Build a Predictive Model.

Once built, how do I use a predictive model?

You use predictive models to:

  • Score lists of records in the CRM so you know which leads are more likely to convert to a customer.
  • Generate new prospect lists of leads most likely to convert, from data in the Versium LifeData® warehouse.

Is there a minimum amount of records needed in my list to build a predictive model?

Yes, there is a minimum quantity of records required in your list.  The number varies based on the type of model you’re building. Remember that the more records you include (up to 5,000), the better your predictive model will be. For the full list requirements, see Prepare Training Data for the Best Predictive Model.

What fields must be in the marketing lists to build a predictive model?

The field requirements vary based on the type of model. The more of these attributes you include, the better your predictive model will be. For the full list requirements, see Prepare Training Data for the Best Predictive Model.

After I upload the marketing lists, then what happens?

Versium Predict first enriches the marketing lists with LifeData® by adding thousands of additional attributes to each record. It then:

  1. Analyzes the enhanced dataset using machine learning algorithms that assess predictive signals.
  2. Builds a predictive model based on that data and machine learning.
  3. Tests the model and ensures it is properly tuned.

Once your model is complete, you can find it on the Versium Predict Dashboard, and can use it to score leads and build predictive lists that can help your sales efforts and marketing campaigns.

Score Leads

How long does lead scoring take?

It takes Versium Predict up to 1 hr to process 5,000 records, so a 20,000 record list could take up to 4 hrs to score. If you have submitted a list for scoring and it’s taking significantly longer than that, please contact customer support.

What is a Lead Score?

A Lead Score predicts how likely a lead or prospect is to be interested in purchasing your product or service. Lead Scores are generated using a predictive model for the behavior (for example, purchasing your product). The score ranges from 1 to 100, with higher scores indicating greater likelihood to be interested in your product or service.

Can I score leads in my CRM?

You can create and score any marketing list in the CRM using Versium Predict. First, you need to build a consumer or business predictive model. Then, select Score Leads and follow the wizard.  To see your scored marketing lists, on the dashboard, look under Results in the bottom left, and click Scored Leads. See Score Leads.

Can I score both businesses and consumers?

Yes, you can.  You first need to build a predictive model using either business data or consumer data, depending upon what you want to score.  The same model can not be used to score businesses and consumers.

Build Predictive Lists

How long does it take to create a list from a predictive model?

It takes Versium Predict about 1 hr to process 5,000 records, so a 20,000 record list would usually take 4 hrs to create. If you have requested a list and it’s taking significantly longer than that, please contact customer support.

Can I generate both B2B and B2C predictive lists for my marketing campaigns?

Yes. You can generate both types of lists to support both business-to-business (B2B) or business-to-consumer (B2C) marketing campaigns. For a B2B predictive list, open the List Builder and choose a predictive model built with business data. For B2C, you choose a model built with consumer data. You cannot use the same model to generate both business and consumer predictive lists.

What is a Predictive List?

A predictive list is a list of prospects that are predicted to convert at a higher rate than average.  You build predictive lists with the Versium Predict Create Lists wizard, customizing them for your business needs by choosing a predictive model for the behavior you want, plus options such as location and how many prospects you want. Create Lists then scores prospects in Versium’s Lifedata® warehouse and selects the highest value prospects to build your predictive list.

How can I customize my Predictive List to meet the needs of my campaign?

You can customize a predictive list in several ways:

  • Choice of Predictive Model: The predictive model affects what behavior your predictive list is optimized for.
  • Geography: What georegion you want leads from.
  • Size: You can choose to include as few as 100, or as many as 10,000 leads in your predictive list.
  • Optional filters: Although the predictive model you choose will most likely be enough, you may occasionally want to use some of the optional filters—such as business SIC codes or age range for a consumer list—to further refine the target audience for your predictive list.
